Choosing A Survey

Deciding on whether to have a survey on a property you are purchasing can be a daunting decision.

  • Which type of survey you require

  • How much will it cost

  • What information does it contain

  • Do I need to advise the estate agents

These are all questions that we are regularly asked.

Our advice would be to arrange your survey at the earliest opportunity.

Whether you are a first time buyer, purchasing your next home or deciding to move after many years in the same property. We are here to guide you through the process, explain how it works and hopefully take some of the stress away.

We often find that clients think that their solicitor will sort out the survey, but this is not the case.

So, as soon as you have your offer accepted on the property and once you have instructed your solicitors, think about booking in your survey. This way, you'll know what issues there are with the property (if any), and be in a position to decide if you wish to proceed with the purchase or not.

You can call or email us, either via our website or direct, and have a discussion about what type of survey is best for the property you are buying. Once we have agreed this and the price, we then take some additional information and do all the arranging. The only thing you will need to do is return your Terms of Engagement and settle your invoice.

The document below - Choosing between surveys - will give you a bit more information.
